Privacy policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
Casalign is an app that keeps a family's bills, documents, tasks and calendar in one place, for one home or for two homes that share the kids. This policy explains what information we collect in the app and on our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Casalign is operated by Dan Sela, an individual developer, at Hadekel St. 88, Lapid, Israel 7313300 (“Casalign”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@casalign.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored hashed), or your Google account identity if you sign in with Google. You may add a profile photo and a phone number.
Date of birth. When you sign up, the app asks for your date of birth. It is stored in a private table and can be set only once. Our server uses it to apply our age rules (whether you are under 14 or under 18). The app also copies it into your profile and onto your entry in the space's member list, where it is shown as “From your sign-up. It can't be changed.” Like other member-list details, it is therefore visible to the other members of your space. Neither you nor an Owner can edit it. Birthdays of children listed in your space who do not have their own account are entered and edited by the adults managing them.
Age confirmation for adults who invite a teen. Before an adult can invite a teen to a space, the app asks the adult to confirm their age with their own ID card, passport or driver's license, either by scanning it or by using the photo of an ID already saved in Records. The date of birth is read from the image on your phone. A birth date typed in by hand never counts, and a date read from the ID cannot be edited. The ID confirms your age only if the date of birth on it matches the one you signed up with. If it does not match, the ID is still saved, but your age is not confirmed, and the app tells you that only your own ID can confirm you. The ID is saved in Records like any other ID document: its image and details are encrypted on your phone before they reach our servers, so we cannot read them, and in the app only Owners, Adults and the ID's owner can open it. Our servers see only a “confirmed adult” mark on that record: whose it is, when it was confirmed, and the type of document. The mark is checked when a teen's invite is created and again when it is accepted.
We do not ask for or check a teen's ID. A teen's age comes from the date of birth they enter at sign-up and the birthday the adult entered on the family list. A family can still save a teen's ID in Records like any document, encrypted in the same way. It is never used to determine age, and it cannot earn the “confirmed adult” mark, because only an adult's own ID showing 18 or older can.
Space and member information. The name and type of your space (a household, a single-parent space, or a co-parenting space), and the people in it with their roles (Owner, Adult, Teen, View only). For members and for children listed in your space, this can include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, schools and photos that you or other members enter. When you invite someone, we store the code, the role, and the name and optional email or phone you enter for them. If you send the invite by email, it is sent through our email provider, Brevo, which receives the invitee's email address and first name (if you entered one), your first name, the space's name and the invite code.
Content you add. Bills, subscriptions, expenses and receipts, income (including child support), co-parenting agreements and settle-ups, tasks, lists (including small photos on list items, which are visible to everyone who can see the list), calendar events and custody schedules, and records such as documents, warranties, home inventory, maintenance and trips. Records can include scans and photos of documents, and details such as ID and passport numbers, dates of birth, and medical and school documents, depending on what you choose to store. Card statements are described below.
Maintenance. A maintenance record keeps how often it repeats, the next service date, and each time it was done, with an optional cost and receipt. This log is part of the record: it is visible to everyone the record is shared with, and deleting the record deletes it. A receipt added when you mark an item done is saved with your receipts and invoices, which only Owners and Adults can see. Deleting a log entry deletes its receipt. Maintenance reminders are scheduled on your phone.
Photo album links. You can add a link to a shared photo album to a trip or event in Records. Casalign stores only the link, encrypted with your space's key, so our servers can't read it. We never open, preview or download the album, and the photos stay with the service that hosts them. Your phone opens the link only when you tap it. Members who can see the trip and have your space's key can open the link. Like any share link, it also opens the album for anyone outside Casalign who has it. Removing the link removes it for everyone.
Card statements. You can import a credit card statement: a file you upload (Excel, CSV or PDF), or one found in an inbox you connected. Our server reads it by simple rules, without AI, to list its charges. It does not keep the file. If the file has a password, the password is used only to open the file. It is not stored or logged. For each charge we keep the date, the merchant's name as it appears on the statement, the amount and currency (and the original amount and currency for a foreign purchase), the installment (such as “2 of 6”), the card's last four digits, the card company's name, and whether it came from an upload or an email. We never keep the full card number. When someone decides what a charge is, such as a one-off expense, a bill or a refund to ask for, we keep that choice with who made it and when. The next time that merchant appears, the app suggests the same choice. This is worked out on your phone from those choices, and nothing extra is stored. A charge marked “Unknown” is saved as an expense tagged Unknown until someone gives it a category. If a statement shows a new amount for a bill, the bill keeps its earlier amounts, with who changed them. You can also note that a bill was paid another way, such as cash or bank transfer. Card charges are money: in a household, every Owner and Adult can see every imported charge, including merchant names. Teens and view-only members cannot. Charges are kept until someone deletes the statement, or as described in section 6. Deleting a statement removes its charges, and the choices made on them, for everyone. Expenses, bills and tasks made from its charges stay, with the merchant's name and amount, until you delete them.
Restock (grocery list suggestions). Restock is off until someone on a list turns it on. It is then on for everyone on that list, and the list shows who turned it on. While it is on, Casalign keeps a log of which items on that list were ticked off and on which day, so it can suggest them before your shopping day. It does not record who ticked an item, how many or the price. The log is visible to everyone who can see the list. For each item we keep only the 8 most recent days it was ticked off, and nothing older than 12 months: we delete older entries automatically. Nothing is logged while Restock is off. Turning Restock off stops the log but does not delete it. You can clear a list's history at any time in the list's Restock sheet, or when you turn Restock off there or in Settings › Restock. Clearing it deletes it for everyone on the list, and deleting the list deletes its log too. Your own “Not now” choices and whether you get the weekly notification are shown only to you. Suggestions are worked out on your phone from that log, by simple rules. No AI is used. The weekly notification shows the list's name and how many suggestions there are, never which items.
Information from accounts you connect. If you connect a Gmail or Outlook inbox (read-only), our server reads matching emails to find receipts, invoices and subscriptions from the last 12 months, and then new mail each time you open the app. We keep invoice details and invoice PDFs and discard the rest of the email. When you ask, it also looks for card statements in emails from the card companies the app recognizes, from the last 4 months. It reads them as described in Card statements above, and does not keep the emails or their files. If you turn on calendar sync, the app reads upcoming events from the phone calendar you choose, which stay on your phone, and writes Casalign items into that calendar.
Messages you ask our AI feature to read. If you use “Read a message”, the text you paste or share (up to 6,000 characters) is sent from our server to Anthropic's AI service to find tasks, events and payments. Before it leaves your phone, the app hides the details it recognises: payment card numbers, IBANs, national ID, social security and tax numbers in the formats it checks (for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Israel and several European countries), any number written next to a label such as “passport”, “ID number”, “tax ID” or “account number”, the word that follows “password”, “PIN” or a similar word, and links (which stay on your phone and are added back to the results). Other numbers are not hidden, including amounts, dates, phone numbers and bank account numbers written without a label, and the app may miss details written in an unusual way, so please do not paste anything you would not want to share. With the message we also send the full names and schools of the members of your space, including children, activity titles, household notes you have written (these are not masked) and a few examples from earlier messages, so the results make sense. We keep a short, redacted snippet (up to 600 characters) and what you chose to keep, to improve later results for your space. Anthropic handles these requests under its standard commercial terms, which say it does not train its models on them. Its published policy, as we checked it on October 18, 2026, is to delete them within 30 days, unless a request is flagged as breaking its usage policy (then kept for up to 2 years) or the law requires otherwise.
Feedback. If you send feedback or report a problem, our feedback form receives your message, your user id and the app version. If you delete your account, you can optionally tell us why. That reason is stored without your user id.
Website and waitlist. If you join our waitlist on casalign.com, we collect your full name and email address, the province or country where you live, whether you use an iPhone or an Android phone, your household type, anything you choose to write for the optional question about the hardest part of running your household, the page or link you arrived from, and the date and time you agreed to be contacted. We do not ask for payment details, bank details, government ID numbers or passwords to join the waitlist, and you should never send them to us. If you reply to our emails, we keep your message.
What we do not collect. We do not collect your location, contacts, microphone recordings or your phone's advertising ID. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we do not collect push-notification tokens, because reminders are scheduled on your phone.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app: store and show your space's content, share it with the members it is shared with, and schedule reminders on your phone.
- To read documents, receipts, invoices, card statements and messages you ask the app to read, to match card charges against your bills and expenses, and to count card payments in your spending.
- To convert amounts between currencies using published exchange rates.
- To suggest grocery items on lists where Restock is on, as described in section 2.
- To keep under-18 accounts limited to spaces they were invited to, and to confirm that an adult is an adult before they invite a teen.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, fix bugs and improve the app.
- To respond to your questions and requests, to invite waitlist members to early access, choose a balanced group of testers and send occasional updates about Casalign, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your content to show you advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Where your information is stored
Your space's data is stored in our cloud database and file storage and is also kept on each member's phone so the app works offline. Each member's phone keeps a copy of what that member is allowed to see. Our cloud is hosted by Supabase in Singapore (Amazon Web Services, ap-southeast-1).
Each item is visible only to the people it is shared with. Money (bills, expenses, receipts, income, invoices and card charges) is visible only to Owners and Adults. In a co-parenting space, money you add is visible only to you until you share it. A cost noted on a record, such as a warranty's value or a service cost, can be seen by anyone the record is shared with. Teens see only their own documents, events and tasks, lists shared with them, and trips they are going on. A trip or event in Records can also be seen, read-only, by the people listed under its Who's going, including teens and view-only members, even if its sharing leaves them out. In a co-parenting space, the other parent sees a trip only if it is shared with them, even if they are on Who's going. They see its title, place, dates, notes, reminders and who is going. Documents filed in the trip and ID details still follow their own sharing, and they can open its photo album link only if they have your space's key. These rules are enforced by our database and by the app.
5. Who we share information with
- Other members of your space, according to what is shared with them, their role and, for trips, whether they are listed as going (see section 4). The list of members, including names, emails, phone numbers, birthdays, children's schools, and profile photos, is visible to all members of the space.
- Service providers that process data for us:
- Supabase: accounts, database, file storage and server functions.
- Google: sign-in with Google, reading Gmail inboxes you connect, Google Cloud Vision for reading receipts and documents (a resized image of the page is sent, only the text comes back and nothing is stored; for receipts this happens automatically when needed, and for IDs and other documents only when you ask or have turned on reading in the cloud without asking), and Google Forms and Sheets, in Casalign's own Google account, for feedback and reasons for leaving.
- Microsoft: reading Outlook inboxes you connect.
- Anthropic: the AI model that reads the messages you ask it to read, as described in section 2.
- Frankfurter (European Central Bank rates): currency conversion. No personal information is sent.
- Our website and email providers: Netlify hosts casalign.com; Google Sheets and Gmail, in Casalign's Google account, hold waitlist and feedback records; ImprovMX forwards email sent to our casalign.com addresses; and Brevo (in France, EU) sends our waitlist and tester emails and the invitation emails members send from the app. For each email, Brevo records whether it was delivered. Brevo also counts opens and link clicks, but anonymously: we have set it so these are not linked to the person the email was sent to.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.
- Business changes. If Casalign is transferred to another person or company, your information may be transferred with it, and we will tell you first.
Casalign's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use Gmail data only to find receipts, invoices, subscriptions and card statements for you, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not transfer it to others except as needed to provide the feature, for security, or to comply with law.
6. Retention and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Your profile → Delete my account. Before deleting, the app offers to export your data as a file. If you are an Owner, you can hand the space to another adult or delete it for everyone. You can also request deletion without opening the app, or after uninstalling it, by emailing support@casalign.com from the email address on your account with the subject “Delete my Casalign account”.
When your account is deleted:
- We disconnect every inbox you connected and revoke Casalign's access where the provider allows it. Gmail access is revoked at Google unless another Casalign user has the same inbox connected. For Outlook, we delete our access token and you can remove the app's permission in your Microsoft account.
- The spaces you own are deleted with all their files.
- In spaces you leave, items you added that nobody remaining can see are deleted with their files. Items you shared with others stay in the space, with their attached files such as scans, receipts and invoice PDFs.
- Your name remains on the member list next to what you shared, but it is no longer linked to your account, and your email and phone number are removed. For adults, your photo and birthday are removed as well. Other members' phones remove these details the next time they connect to the internet.
- Your invites, memberships, inbox connections, profile, date of birth, your own Restock choices and login are deleted.
If an Owner removes you from a space, the items you added that only you could see are deleted with their files, and what you shared stays with the space.
When an item is deleted, its content is removed from our servers, but an empty record without that content remains, holding only technical details (such as the item's id, its space and when and by whom it was deleted) so that every member's phone removes the item too. If a file cannot be removed right away, it is removed in a later clean-up. Restock entries older than 12 months are deleted automatically, as described in section 2. Optional reasons for leaving are stored without your user id. Downloaded files and some app data may remain on your phone until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. If you join the waitlist and are not invited, we delete your waitlist record within 12 months unless you ask us to keep it, and you can ask us to delete it sooner at any time. Feedback from testers is kept while Casalign is in development and then deleted or anonymised. Every waitlist and update email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Invitation emails, which we send when a member invites someone from the app, do not.
7. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile and content in the app, control reminders and notifications, disconnect connected accounts, export your data, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, correct it, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent. To make a request, email us at support@casalign.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by our hosting provider's standard safeguards, and access to each item is limited to the people it is shared with. ID, passport and license documents (images and details), photo album links on trips and the snippets we keep for our AI feature are additionally encrypted by the app on your phone before they are stored on our servers, with a key held on members' devices and not on our servers. An invite you share from your phone includes that key, so it passes through whichever app you send the invite with; invitation emails do not include it. Data stored on your phone, including readable copies of ID details and photo album links, relies on your phone's own protections, is not separately encrypted by the app, and may be included in your phone's Android backup. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone protected and use a strong, unique password.
9. Children and teens
Casalign is designed for adults who run a household. Teens aged 14 to 17 can have a limited account, only by invitation from an adult in their space whose own ID shows they are 18 or older. When someone signs up, the app asks for their date of birth. Anyone under 18 needs an invite code from an adult in that space, joins that space right away, and cannot create a space of their own. An adult can invite a teen only after confirming their own age, as described in section 2. The minimum age is 14, and sign-up stops for anyone under 14. Where local law requires a parent's consent, the adult who invites the teen gives that consent and accepts these terms on the teen's behalf. Teens join with limited permissions and cannot see money information.
Adults may also enter information about their children, including younger children who do not have an account, such as names, birthdays, schools, photos, ID and medical documents, activities and custody schedules, as part of managing their family. That information is entered and managed by the adults and is not collected from the children directly. If an adult uses “Read a message”, the full names and schools of the children in the space are sent to our AI provider with the message, as described in section 2.
We do not let anyone under 14 create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 14. If we learn that a child under 14 has an account, we will delete it. If you believe someone under the minimum age has been added to a household, contact us at support@casalign.com.
10. International transfers
Your information is stored in Singapore (Supabase, on Amazon Web Services). Some of it is processed by our service providers in other countries, including the United States (for example Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and Netlify) and the European Union (Brevo, in France). The data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.
11. Cookies and tracking on our website
Our website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics, and it serves its fonts itself. The only measurement is in our emails: Brevo records whether each email was delivered, and counts opens and link clicks anonymously, without linking them to the person who received it. If this changes, we will update this page.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
